Simon founded Stonehaven in 2008. He continues to operate full time as CEO. With 24 years of generalist CEO, Board recruiting, he also leads our global Investment Banking and Private Equity practice. He previously served as the Global Managing Partner of the Financial Institutions Practice at Heidrick & Struggles until the end 2007. At Heidrick, Simon was credited with playing a leading role in doubling global revenues for the FIG Practice over five years and tripling EMEA revenues. He joined Heidrick & Struggles as a Partner in September 2003 to Co-lead the Financial Services Practice in Europe. He was subsequently promoted to Global Head of Investment Banking & Capital Markets, before taking up his global leadership role in Spring 2006 with responsibility for over one third of the firm’s revenue. He was a Member of the Global Management Committee.
As well as specialising in investment banking and private equity, he has provided advice to CEOs and Board members at a range of firms across sectors including retail, consumer, technology, digital and Industrials across both developed and emerging markets. Simon has predominantly focused on assignments in Europe, but has also worked for corporate clients, institutions and family offices in North America, Asia Pacific, Russia, India, the Middle East and Africa.
Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, Simon spent seven years with Whitney Group, a specialist financial services executive search boutique, where he was an Equity Partner and Managing Director of the European business. He was also responsible for the firm’s European Investment Banking & Capital Markets Practice, completing searches across sector, product and country coverage. Before joining Whitney Group, Simon worked at an international executive search firm in London where he was responsible for founding and developing the European Financial Services Practice.
